Pirelli has ruled out bidding to become Formula One's tyre supplier when Bridgestone leave at the end of next season. Bridgestone, Formula One's sole tyre supplier, announced earlier this week that they would not be renewing their contract when it expires at the end of 2010. This has prompted some speculation regarding which company could fill the void as its unlikely that Michelin, who quit F1 in 2006, will return. However, already Pirelli have taken their name out of the running. "Pirelli's previous position on F1 hasn't changed," a spokeswoman told Reuters. "Pirelli prefers to develop tyres for racing that will also be used on the road. Pirelli sponsors Superbike, World Rally Championship and GT2."
